A Day To Remember Completes "The Degenerates Tour" in Fayetteville NC

It wasn't that long ago that A Day To Remember came through North Carolina on the "Raisin' Hell In The Heartland Tour" for a sold out show in Raleigh in a venue that holds a couple thousand. This past Saturday, A Day To Remember returned to North Carolina to close out their "The Degenerates Tour" with Beartooth, I Prevail, and Can't Swim at the Crown Complex in Fayetteville NC. This was a bit of an upgrade since their last visit, as this was a full blown arena tour and the show in Fayetteville was a packed of near 10,000 hyped up fans.

The tour's namesake is the first single released from their upcoming album You're Welcome. The new album was announced with a release day in mid-November, however You’re Welcome is now slated to be released in early 2020. Along with the announcement of the new album, and release of the new single “Degenerates”, the band announced their signing to their new label, Fueled By Ramen. This comes as the first music released by the band in three years, besides their collab “Rescue Me” with Marshmello earlier this summer. Since the releases and the announcements, the band has been out on this tour we caught in Fayetteville and just last week they released a heavy new single "Resentment".

The show was off the walls wild. Can't Swim was a perfect start to the night, and Beartooth had the most crowd surfers I think i've ever seen during one song. I Prevail treated the crowd to an intensely heavy impressive set. Being the last show of tour, there were of course shenanigans of bands coming out on stage while others performed. Beartooth turned the stage into a pool party with pool noodles and floaties while Can't Swim was on stage and I Prevail dressed up as a bear and a tooth during Beartooth's set.

The main event though was A Day To Remember, all the bands could not thank the guys from central Florida enough for bringing them out on tour and putting on a truly memorable run.

A Day To Remember came out a bit slow with one of their most popular tracks, "The Downfall of Us All"; The stage lighting at the most minimal and the backdrop just a plain white curtain. Each song they seemingly increased the intensity of the stage production, "All I Want" brought in more lights, and then "Mr. Highway's Thinking About The End" introduced glimpses of the huger video board hidden behind the white curtain.

With the fourth song of their set, lead vocalist Jeremy McKinnon announced, that its time that they're going to "kick it up a fucking notch", as he paced back and forth on stage. The crowd of course erupted and so did the stage as the whole stage production lit up as they began a song "Paranoia" of their 2016 album Bad Vibrations. From that point on it was absolute pedal to the metal for the remainder of the set.

A Day to Remember pulled out all the tricks from their bag: 'crowd surfing on crowd surfers', pyro, cryo, tossing guitars around on stage, jumping over each other, confetti; they even performed a surprise cover of Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy". We did get a treat of new music as well in the middle of everything else! "Degenerates" and "Rescue Me" both got huge reactions from the crowd and gigantic sing-a-longs.

All night I had to keep reminding myself that this was the same band that I saw in a tiny 200 capacity venue in Raleigh back in 2006, and back then they couldn't even sell out that venue. Now, the little band from Ocala, FL is selling out arenas on their own headlining tour. Sure, they've performed to huge crowds, but it's alway been in support of someone else like Blink 182 or at a festival, but this was their own doing. Truly amazing where this band has come over the years.

With the tour complete, A Day To Remember is now playing 4 straight SOLD OUT shows at the Orlando House Of Blues and then will close out the year with a few shows in Australia. If you missed out on this particular tour, you'll likely have another chance next year as the band will really get into the album touring cycle after the release of their album You're Welcome.
