Admittedly, it does seem that the 'golden age' of EDM has passed us by. However, it is still an extremely popular genre of music with enormous annual festivals and millions of fans still selling out huge shows for their favorite artists. And in a time where we grow even further away from the height of its popularity, EDM artists have to adapt themselves to reach new audiences while still remaining relevant in their own genre. Now, EDM is not something that we would typically cover and honestly it is not something that I would really listen to regularly, so why feature it? Why talk about it? Well, KAYZO is an artist taking full advantage of the opportunity to merge the rock/punk world with EDM, bringing together two vastly different genres and make something extremely original. 

Hayden Capuozzo, better known by his stage name KAYZO, is a DJ and producer born in Houston, Texas and currently based in Los Angeles, California. Over the last few years, KAYZO has become one of the most sought after young producer/DJs in the business with his versatile sound and catalogue of original productions, collaborations and remixes. With his most recent release of Unleashed, the versatility of his talent extends deep into the alternative rock/punk scene with many songs featuring notable artists like Our Last Night, Underoath, Memphis May Fire, Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, Of Mice & Men, Frank Zummo of Sum 41, and even the late Kyle Pavone of We Came As Romans. 

Unleashed is KAYZO's sophomore album that follows 2018’s OVERLOAD. The debut album has seen north of 21 million streams on Spotify and has been featured by Rolling Stone and Billboard, among others. OVERLOAD established his unique crossover blend of genres and Unleashed continues that trend. Each song has a completely different sound that is brought to the table and having the features of so many artists I know and love allows for familiarity in a relatively unknown realm of EDM, for myself.  

Unleashed is, no doubt, KAYZO's most expansive effort to date. "When I was able to sit down in the studio, talk face to face and exchange creative ideas with these bands in real time...that's when the real magic happened," Kayzo describes. "It was incredibly rewarding to be in the studio with these guys. I ended up learning so much."
