Well, it's official, the 2017 Vans Warped Tour has kicked off in Seattle, WA. In honor of the first day of the tour, we want to bring you our top 5 artists to watch on this year's tour.
Dance Gavin Dance | Watsky | Boston Manor | Silent Plant | Hands Like Houses
Dance Gavin Dance - "Summertime Gladness"
Dance Gavin Dance seems to have a revolving door of vocalists, however they have found a pretty excellent fit for their band. The last few albums have been lead by Tilian Pearson (Tides of Man and Emarosa) and I , along with many DGD fans, are very happy he has stuck around. I was a huge fan of his former band, Tides of Man, and feel like he is a perfect fit for DGD. Being such a fan of Tides of Man, I am very excited to see Dance Gavin Dance, as I have not seen them with Tilian yet.
Watsky - "Don't Be Nice"
This fast talkin', poetic rapper has spent some time on the Vans Warped Tour in past year; but this year he will be spending the majority of the summer playing the parking lots and dirt fields of the Warped Tour. He is an amazing rapper and has incredible stage presence.
Boston Manor - "Cu"
Boston Manor is a pop-punk band from Blackpool, England. They just released their debut record 'Be Nothing' on Pure Noise Records late 2016 and are currently taking over my Spotify playlists. A must see for pop-punk lovers.
Hands Like Houses - "Perspectives"
Hands Like Houses is an Australian rock band that provides a refreshing sound with positive messages. They just announced their signing to Hopeless Records and released the newest single "Drift." Set high expectations for these guys, they'll meet them.
Silent Planet - "Understanding Love as Loss"
Silent Planet was a band that I had never even heard of before seeing them, last year, at Warped Tour. Since them i've seen them three times and they continue to provide such a powerful performance. Their lyrics touch on real life mental illnesses and the terrifying truth that comes with them. They have had their fair share of struggles throughout the bands career, but expect big crowds for this California band.
This years lineup is full of amazing bands and artists, but unfortunately it is near impossible to see them all in one day. Some other notable bands that you should check out are: The Ataris, Hawthorne Heights, Never Shout Never, Goldfinger, Sworn In, Microwave, and Trophy Eyes. The Vans Warped Tour has always been one of my favorite parts of summer. It is a day full of all the genres of music that I love and it provide me a place to discover new bands to listen to until the next year's Warped Tour.
