CHVRCHES plays the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, NC

First on to the stage was Lo Moon, an indie-rock band that broke out last year with the release of their debut album, “LM1”. Formed in Los Angeles, Lo Moon launched into a record deal with Columbia Records following their debut single, “Loveless” and has been touring since the release of their album. Lo Moon joining CHVRCHES on their tour made perfect sense, given the parallels between their romantic, almost mystical lyricism, as well as the dynamic of electronic synth leads interlaced with raw instrumentation. Lo Moon is the perfect example of a band that correlates directly with CHVRCHES, and I am glad to see that CHVRCHES has given them a chance to bond their two groups of fans together for a night of incredible live performances.

Our main act CHVRCHES came out to thunderous applause in Asheville, where it is evident their fans have been waiting for their return to North Carolina. With bright lights shining down frontwoman and lead singer Lauren Mayberry, the show started off an upbeat and exciting moment, and refused to slow down until the encore was over. This is a very energetic group that clearly works very hard to bring that pop music to life on stage. Between amazing lighting and visuals displayed on X-shaped podiums for bassist Iain Cook and synth player Martin Doherty, and incredible vocals from Lauren Mayberry, this is a show that is incredibly well produced and performed.

CHVRCHES recently released their third album entitled, “Love is Dead”, and they will continue to tour for the greater part of the year, before heading home to Europe in early 2019.
