This weekend was the inaugural Summer Daze Music Festival put on by Seven Foot Giant.
Raleigh's Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park, at North Hills, was the perfect urban venue for this summertime festival that had a very coachella-esque vibe with flower crowns, beers held high for the music, and a mix of rap, EDM, and indie rock music. There were yard games like giant Jenga and cornhole, as well as plenty of local vendors and food trucks. The lineup featured a few local acts like Nance (rap/hip hop Raleigh NC), Rookie of the Year (emo/alt rock Raleigh NC), MIKE's Left Arm (rock Raleigh NC), and WONDR (rap/hip hop Nashville TN); and national acts Carter Cruise (EDM), Lute (rap/hip hop), Surfer Blood (indie rock), and Shwayze & Cisco (rap/hip hop/americana).

With rain in the forecast, the majority of the festival went off without any problems; however, the rain began to fall just as Surfer Blood ended their set and delayed the headliners from taking the stage. Once the storm cleared, Shwayze & Cisco played through the sunset to a now wet and very anxious crowd. Everyone pushed their way to the very front of the stage and rather than lounging in the grass and it turned into a very intimate party type show. The duo just celebrated a 10 year anniversary/reunion tour in June and Shwayze was originally going to be performing solo at the Summer Daze Music Festival as a part of his current Ichronic Tour; however, Cisco became a late addition and a very welcomed one at that.
