On Tuesday night Thrice, The Bronx, and Teenage Wrist came through Raleigh NC on the Epitaph Tour 2018. Each band brought their own brand of punk rock/post-hardcore stylings and ended up turning just a regular Tuesday night into something to remember.

To kick it all off Teenage Wrist took the stage for a performance that surely shocked anyone that had never heard the band before, including myself. The four-piece jammed on stage and really set the post-hardcore tone to continue throughout the night.

Next up up was The Bronx from Los Angeles CA. These punk rockers really picked up the pace and turned the venue upside down when the vocalist jumped into the crowd to get a good old fashioned mosh pit going. Apparently he was not happy with the energy of the crowd, but instead of standing on the stage and complaining about it, he got his hands dirty down in the crowd. I respect that.

The first time I ever saw The Bronx, they were the first band to play on one of the days at Riot Fest and I was hooked from that moment. That’s the beauty of multi-band tours and festivals; you go in to see other bands but leave having new and awesome bands to listen to.

Once The Bronx finished tearing the place apart, the stage was set for the main event. In their post-hiatus time thus far, Thrice has been putting in incredible amounts of touring as well as producing some of their best music yet. Their initial ‘comeback’ album, To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere, surprised a lot of fans and even brought in a whole new group of new fans into the mix. The maturity in the songwriting has changed so much since the post-hardcore golden age when they were riding the success of The Artist In The Ambulance and Vheissu.

And now the band is fresh off of their most second post-hiatus release, Palms

Thrice played an incredible 20 song set featuring some of the very best of their old songs “The Artists In The Ambulance”, “Stare At The Sun”, and “Image Of The Invisible”; they even played a couple songs off of their first notable release The Illusion Of Safety (2002). And of course there were plenty of new songs, as would be expected.

This band seen steady success over the years, but has always flown just slightly under the radar. They are extremely underrated in their music and their live performances, and will forever stand as one of my all time favorite bands.
