Fry Your Brain with The Maine
Emo alternative-rockers, The Maine, are currently on the road with The Wrecks and The Technicolors for the “Fry Your Brain with The Maine” tour. While the tour is nearing a close, with just a little over a week left, the band continues to leave fans in awe city after city.
We had the privilege of attending the show as it made a stop at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro NC. I am not sure if The Technicolors and The Wrecks are as popular as the crowd made them seem, or if everyone (literally everyone) did their homework and learned all the songs that these opening bands played. I have never seen a bigger sing-a-long outside of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” as it plays over the PA system.
If you haven’t heard of the The Maine, well you’re missing out. The Arizona based band were staples in 2007 and 2008 with their EP “The Way We Talk” and the full length “Cant’ Stop Won’t Stop”, but they have continued to evolve their sound and grow their audience with every release. Of course it doesn’t help to be completely fan-driven. The band literally tweeted out to ask fans how they were doing and those that said they were down or stressed received coffee from the band, and those that had a momentous occurrence in their life received flowers or a ticket to the Vans Warped Tour this summer.
The Maine also opened up their set list to their fans for this tour by allowing fans from each city to vote for a song that they wanted to hear. This song was included in their whopping 20 song setlist that included new and old music. Personally I am a big fan of their earlier music, and I am not ashamed to admit that I lost my voice a little bit singing along to “Everything I Ask For”, “Whoever She Is”, and “Girls Do What They Want.”
The band has already announced that this tour will be their final headlining tour of 2018, but they will be on the entire final cross-country Vans Warped Tour this summer.
