Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria at Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh, NC

Kicking the night off was The Story So Far, who had the job of hyping up a crowd that was already extremely excited for a night of live music. The Story So Far is made up of frontman and lead vocalist Parker Cannon, drummer Ryan Torf, bassist Kelen Capener, as well as guitarist Will Levy and Kevin Geyer.

Playing the first main set of the night was Taking Back Sunday, an emo rock group that has been steadily releasing music since the early 2000s.

They are led by frontman and lead vocalist Adam Lazzara, who expertly managed to entertain the crowd while swinging his microphone around his arm and towards the crowd time and time again. Doing so, you are able to tell that this is a man who has spent much of his life on a stage and feels extremely comfortable playing for crowds of any size. Joining Lazzara on stage was guitarist John Nolan, who managed to keep up with Lazzara's wild vocals and add in his own vocal sections while continuing to play the main guitar riffs, which only added to the idea that this is a band who knows what they are doing and proves why they have been able to not only survive, but thrive after so many years of time in the spotlight. Alongside Lazzara and Nolan, the band also consists of bassist Shaun Cooper, and drummer Mark O’ Connell.

The main headlining set of the night was Coheed and Cambria, another case of a band that has been thriving since the late 90s. This is a band that not only has an extreme amount of experience, but also a serious stage presence and a rabid fanbase.

While Coheed and Cambria may have decorated the stage with glowing lanterns and a giant glowing version of their logo that was viewable from hundreds of feet away, the only thing the band needed was their instruments to get the crowd rocking. With consistent shredding from lead vocalist and guitarist Claudio Sanchez, the group managed to hype up the crowd from the first song, and they refused to let up until the very last. This is most likely due to the fact that the bands play-styles mesh so expertly, and again you can tell why this band has managed to succeed for so long in such a cutthroat rock scene. Sanchez was joined on stage by Travis Stever on guitar, Josh Eppard on drums, and Zach Cooper on bass guitar.
