The rain finally gave up just long enough to allow this show to go on without a hitch, and this past Wednesday night, Jenny Lewis and Father John Misty treated a large crowd at the NC Museum of Art to a night of amazing singer-songwriter/indie-folk music. The NC Museum of Art is slowly becoming one of the go to venues for Summer concerts and it is well deserved because it is such a relaxed and unique place to enjoy music for a night. With more lawn space than actual 'seats', fans spread out and lay their blankets out on the grass, while others hang hammocks in the trees around the border of the venue.

Jenny Lewis started off the night, as the sun set; her stage set up with the resemblance of a very retro living room. Almost like a bunch of 70s teens set up their instruments for a jam session in the middle of their living room. This true artist jumped between piano, guitar, and just pure vocals as she pulled off a decent length set of songs spanning her whole career; songs like "Rise Up The Fists!!" and "Born Secular" from her time with The Watson Twins and even songs "Silver Lining" and "With Arms Outstretched" from her indie band Riley Kiley.

Jenny Lewis' most recent solo release The Voyager is available now and you can grab a copy through her website jennylewis.com

This one-off show with Father John Misty actually marked the end of her summer tour dates in the US and now she will jet around the globe playing show between now and mid-September in Canada, Sweden, Denmark, and the UK.

Speaking of Father John Misty; the singer-songwriter, Josh Tillman, is everyone's favorite smartass and, known for his 'idgaf' attitude. But on stage as Father John Misty, he just radiates talent and his beautifully sad songs enveloped everyone watching on this night. While his latest album God's Favorite Customer has seemingly been swept under the rug as far as advertising and press, he didn't shy away from playing half the songs off of the album. But other than those six songs, the rest of the set was a mix of his more notable music of the past.
