In honor of their newest album Cold Like War, We Came As Romans has hit the North American tour trail; bringing along The Plot In You, Oceans Ate Alaska, Currents, and Tempting Fate. Cities on this tour continue to sell out, including the Greensboro NC show that we attended, which is no surprise with this stacked lineup. Tempting Fate and Currents are some of the top on the rise bands and Oceans Ate Alaska continues to grow and expand their already incredible US fanbase.
The Plot In You has always been a popular band in the metalcore genre, with their angry lyrics and their heavy guitar riffs and breakdowns; however, the shift in musical stylings on their last couple albums has really latched onto a larger audience, skyrocketing their popularity it seems. When you look at their first full length First Born, and compare it to their most recent release DISPOSE, it's hard to convince yourself these two albums came from the same band; and if it weren't for Landon Tewers' recognizable vocals, you could very easily mistake them as completely different bands.

Their set on this tour was comprised mostly of the songs from their most recent album, but they threw in a couple fan favorites from past albums. Songs like "Fiction Religion" and "My Old Ways" brought some of the loudest cheers from the crowd. The four-piece band seem to be in a very good place with their music and turbulence of years past appears to be smoothed out. Even Tewers himself, in a recent interview with Billboard about the new album, has confessed to feeling more at peace than he has in the past. As The Plot In You walked off the stage one-by-one with the final notes of "Disposable Fix" playing, the crowd seems left in awe from the incredible set they just experienced; but nice and warmed up for the headlining act. |

We Came As Romans has gone through their fair share of struggles in a short two year time span. The band had some member changes, they dropped their record label and were one of the first bands announced to sign to the freshly formed Sharptone Records. Their most recent release, and first album through their new label, was following up the bands biggest let down; their 2015 self-titled album, a big mishit with fans, left things in a rough place and possibly initiated all of the changes the band went through.

Cold Like War has been a complete rebound for the band, bringing them back to where they excel musically. Fans are clearly taking to this album more-so than the last and that is no surprise as it is an absolute lyrical feat, while bringing back the style of music that gave the band their name. The album itself is so lyrically honest it shows they're no afraid to reflect on the rough past few years they've had as a band.
Their set on the "Cold Like War Tour" featured a good mix of songs throughout their career with the primary focus on their new album of course; including "To Plant A Seed" and "Fade Away". The band played to the sold out crowd like true professionals; dodging crowd surfers tumbling onto the stage and conducting a chorus of hundreds of fans singing along to the choruses of their songs.
After their current "Cold Like War Tour"; We Came As Romans and The Plot In You will continue onto Europe and the UK, where they will be joined by Alazka and Polaris.
