With no apparent release date for a new album or no real update one where the band is at other than touring every now and then, Modest Mouse is one of those bands where you tell someone "I'm going to see Modest Mouse this weekend" and the response you get is "Modest Mouse is still a band?!" But of course they are. The band is still going strong and is still selling out concerts. 

In fact, this past weekend they had a SOLD OUT show in Raleigh NC at The Ritz. If I am not mistaken this show sold out within a couple weeks of being announced last year. And this show wasn't just "sold out" it was wall to wall packed sold out, from the beginning to end.

A little background about the band; they've been around since the early 90's but didn't find real success until the early 2000's, when they were nominated for multiple Grammys related to their 2004 album "Good News for People Who Love Bad News." Songs from that album, like "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty", became big hits that brought them very close to being household names really skyrocketed the band to another level.

After the 2004 hit album, the band would go on to put out another album in 2007 and then went idle in regards to new music until 2015. Since the release of "Strangers to Ourselves" in 2015, Modest Mouse has not put out a new album and little is know about whether their will be a new album. It has been said that the new album will be an extension of "Strangers to Ourselves" but it will not really be officially recorded or released until it is "legal" for them to do so. 

Despite the inconsistency when it comes to new music, the band still puts on a really great show and it's obvious that they are still popular with their fans. This past weekends show at The Ritz was the first real sweaty sold out concert of the year and I couldn't think of a better band to have the opportunity to see in a scenario like that.
