Here Come The Runts - AWOLNATION in Raleigh NC

Awolnation came through Raleigh last Wednesday in support of their latest album, "Here Comes The Runts". The album, which was released this February, managed to combine the electronic sound the band is known for while also adding some quieter tracks such as the very popular single, "Handyman". This shakeup in style for the band seems to be a success, as the album came out to shining reviews from critics and fans alike.

With this tour, you could tell the band was trying to bring that homestyle, laid back attitude to the stage. Lined with carpet and succulents, the bands stage props provided an interesting dynamic to the at first loud and bombastic tone of their opening songs. The warm and inviting stage setup was much more fitting with the slower and more acoustic sounding songs of AWOLNATION's discography, but still allowed for some interesting contrast when the band performed their heavier and more well known songs.

Aaron Bruno, the lead singer and founder of AWOLNATION, used his vocal performance to steal the show and highlight the contrast between the bands songs. His vocals continued to impress alongside the groups more rock and electronic influenced tracks, as well as their newly adopted acoustic sound.

AWOLNATION consists of frontman Aaron Bruno, drummer Isaac Carpenter, lead guitarist Zach Irons, keyboardist Daniel Saslow, and bassist Michael Goldman. You can see them on the second leg of the tour starting in two weeks, with Irontom and lovelytheband.
