Joywave and Grandson came through Asheville this week on their current "Thanks. Thanks For Coming. Part 3" Tour and we were there to cover the show so check out the photos below.

Stepping out onto the stage first was Grandson, an alternative artist that specializes in beat heavy, politically-charged rock. He is best know for his wild yet inspiring stage presence, as well as his lyrics that force the listen to focus in on the current state of the world. Walking onto the stage barefoot and ready to dominate, he quickly let the audience know that participation during his set was mandatory. With a touring band behind him, Grandson managed to blend his beat-centric works into a more traditional style of rock and roll that is best experienced live. Grandson recently released his first major EP, "a modern tragedy vol. 1" and with his recent success as an opening act for groups such as Hobo Johnson and Joywave, his fanbase and reputation in the alternative scene is growing at a rapid pace and shows no sign of slowing down.

The final act of the night was Joywave, an alternative band from Rochester, New York who has slated this tour as the last leg before their third album cycle officially begins. The stage, lined with old CRT computer monitors placed on top of pillars, set the tone for the type of electronic, yet quirky music the group is known for. With the use of dynamic samples mixed in with the technical elements of live instruments, the group pulls off an fantastic live show. Frontman Daniel Armbruster's vocal performance steals the show as he manages to draw a balance between being technically capable and incredibly powerful. Armbruster is joined on stage by Joseph Morinelli on lead guitar, Benjamin Bailey on the keyboard, and Paul Brenner on drums. They most recently toured as an opening act for Thirty Seconds To Mars and are now preparing to produce and record their third album, and have recently released a single, "Blastofff", presumably to give fans a tease at what is to come.
