Death Cab For Cutie at Red Hat Amphitheater
After a very stormy and wet couple of days in the Raleigh area, the rain seemed to clear away just in time for Death Cab For Cutie's concert at Raleigh's Red Hat Amphitheater. The event was the first concert at the downtown amphitheater this year, and was a great way to start the season.
While Death Cab is not at the high that they were at in the mid 2000s, they've continued to find staying power in their songwriting and continue to fill large venues for their concerts. On this tour alone, they've had numerous sold out shows and when you see them live, their captivating performances proves why their fans fill the venues they play.
Their most recent album Thank You For Today wasn't received very well received, compared to their past work, but it did feature the Alternative Top 40 hit "Gold Rush". The lead single off of their 2018 album was one of the songs Ben Gibbard and the rest of the band performed during their nearly 2-hour set in front of the entranced downtown crowd.
Other recognizable hits that they performed included "I Will Possess Your Heart", "Soul Meets Body", and "I Will Follow You Into The Dark"
